Publications:
Hiyaguha’s publications include Boldly Live as You’ve Never Lived Before (a self-help book based on Star Trek), and The No-Pain Resume Workbook (a humorous guide to career search). She also has ghostwritten a best-selling self-help book about emotional eating published by Wiley this past year, and a humorous guide to working with difficult bosses. Her 100+ articles have appeared in major publications and have won awards from The National Business Employment Weekly and the Benson/Steinbeck Foundation.
Education:
Hiyaguha studied clinical psychotherapy at Smith College
School of Social Work after receiving a Bachelor’s
SUMMA CUM LAUDE IN HUMAN DEVELOPMENT FROM THE UNIVERSITY
OF MASSACHUSETTS.She was one of six graduate students
nationwide participating in a fellowship at Brandeis
University to examine the relationship of ethnicity
to mental health. She holds an MFA IN CREATIVE WRITING
FROM SOUTHHAMPTON COLLEGE,, and currently is completing
work for the Ph.D. in Life Coaching and Human Development
at IUPS. She also has completed foundational training
at the Institute for Life Coach Training and is certified
as a Seasons of Change practitioner.
Studies
in Spirituality: Hiyaguha’s special interests
include spirituality, mysticism, mythology, and the
hero’s journey. She studied meditation for 25
years with Sri Chinmoy, and has taught meditation and
stress reduction classes to thousands of students at
places ranging from GTE Corporation to Harvard University.
Professional
Background: Hiyaguha was an outplacement and
corporate consultant for Drake Beam Morin, Interim Associates,
and Spherion, and has been on the faculties of Hawaii
Pacific University, Leeward Community College in Oahu,
and Dowling College in Oakdale, New York.
Personal
Background: Hiyaguha lives in Sante Fe with her husband of 29 years and her
standard poodle. In the past, she completed nine marathons,
although these days Tai Chi and gentle jogs are more
her speed. She loves hiking, snorkeling, marveling at
the wonder of nature, reading about inspiring spiritual
journeys, writing humor and fiction, artsy towns, helping
people to recognize their own inner beauty and power,
and having friends over for dinner. |
